Care Guide
How do I keep Ornamae jewellery looking new?
Three small habits keep every piece sparkling:
- Last on, first off — put jewellery on after make-up, perfume and hairspray; take it off before showering, swimming or sleeping.
- Wipe after wear — a soft dry cloth (the one in your Ornamae box) removes skin oils and sweat that dull metal over time.
- Store separately — each piece in its own pouch or compartment, away from sunlight and humidity.
How do I clean gold jewellery at home?
Mix a few drops of mild dish soap into a bowl of warm water. Soak the gold piece for 5–10 minutes, then gently brush with a soft baby toothbrush, rinse with clean water and pat dry. Never use bleach, chlorine or abrasive scrubs.
How do I clean 925 silver?
For light tarnish, rub with a silver polishing cloth (available from Ornamae). For deeper tarnish, soak in warm water with a teaspoon of baking soda for 10 minutes, then polish with a soft cloth. Anti-tarnish strips placed inside the storage pouch slow future oxidation dramatically.
How do I care for demi-fine (gold-plated) pieces?
- Keep away from water, perfume, lotion and salt water.
- Wipe gently with the supplied microfibre cloth after each wear.
- Store flat in the original box; do not stack with other jewellery.
- Plating naturally wears thinner with daily wear — we offer free re-plating once a year for the first 2 years.
Can I wear my jewellery in the shower?
Solid gold can tolerate occasional water exposure but loses lustre over time. 925 silver tarnishes faster when exposed to soap and humidity. Demi-fine plated pieces should never get wet — even a single shower can strip plating.
What about jewellery and skin sensitivity?
All Ornamae jewellery is hypoallergenic and nickel-free. If you have very sensitive skin we recommend our 925 silver or solid gold ranges over demi-fine.
